Association History
The Shalimar Pointe Owners' Association was established late 1993 by a group of residents committed to revitalizing and protecting the integrity of the community. At the time, the neighborhood was experiencing neglect-- maintenance had stalled, the guardhouse was damaged, and security services had been discontinued.
In December 1993, a new Boards of Directors was elected, and on December 31st, the Shalimar Land Corporation officially transferred control of the roads and common areas to the Association, this pivotal transition laid the foundation for improved management and community oversight.
In 1994, the Board Implemented key improvements: the creation of a property and financial database, a dues amnesty program, the reinstatement of security services, a rebuild of the guardhouse and other landscaping enhancements, and at the time, landscaping and architectural standards were established.
By the end of 1996, over 160 homes had been built or were under construction, The Association expanded to include Carmel at Shalimar Pointe in 1997, bringing the total membership to 198 property owners and the Country Club.
Over the years Shalimar Pointe has continued to grow:
- In 2008 a resident purchased the tennis club, keeping its programs open to the public.
- In 2012 community members formed Preserve Shalimar Pointe LLC to purchase the golf course and clubhouse, with the goal of preserving the recreational space, and property values.
Today, Shalimar Pointe includes several residential areas: Shalimar Pointe, Lakeside, The Bluffs, The Links, Palmetto Dunes, and Carmel at Shalimar Pointe.
