On 16 Jan 2025 Bert Everhart, Denny Evans and Karl Metz met at 888 The Masters to participate in a HOA learning webinar sponsored by the Burg Management Company, a property management firm. The Dunlap & Shipman law firm presented updates and changes involving Florida Statutes Title XL Chapters 718 and 720 and subsequent effects on Florida HOA boards.
The webinar lasted over 2 hours and included questions and answers. No board business was discussed and this meeting was hosted as continuing education.
Because of legislative changes in 2024, all HOA BOD will now be required to complete 4 hours of initial certification and 4 hours of continuing education/year. None of the current Shalimar Pointe BOD members have completed this training and must do so within 90 days of being elected to their positions.
